One of the very best ways for small business owners to grow their business and pump up the cash flow is to include speaking to groups as a marketing strategy.

Does this idea make you break out into a hot sweat or make your legs feel like rubber? Do your best to get over it. Swallow those nervous butterflies and talk your way to success.

Just do the math. How many clients can you see in a typical day? Using an optimistic approach, let’s say you can meet with ten.

Now let’s think about a typical meeting where people with like interests gather – perhaps a Rotary or Kiwanis club. We’ll be conservative in this approach and say each club might have 25 to 30 people join in on a weekly basis.

Speak to just one of these groups and you’ve already doubled your exposure. Talk about making the most of your precious marketing time. This is the way to go. But you must deliver just the right message to just the right audience to be successful.

The key to your speaking success is to find an audience that has problems — big problems — you can solve. Then talk to them about how you do that. Help them realize how your company can make the pain of their problem go away like a simple wave of a magic wand.
